A review of our business in 2024.
The end of 2024 is just about here and as we prepare to close our doors to enjoy the festive break with family and friends, we want to look back at some of our achievements over the year.
Celebrating 125 Years
This year marked our quasquicentennial anniversary – that’s 125 years of business on the high street! Such a remarkable milestone called for equally special celebrations, and we aimed to ensure that our staff, clients, and the local community could all be part of the celebrations. Here are some highlights from our celebrations:
As part of our 125-year celebrations, we launched a special offer for estate agency clients in April, providing a free Home Report. This initiative was warmly received, helping many clients save money while navigating the often-expensive process of selling a home.
November was the centrepiece of our celebrations. We marked our anniversary with various events including ‘Make a Will Day’ in aid of St Clements, Dingwall and Fox and Friends in Alness. As part of our charity contributions, we donated £125 each to Dingwall’s Men’s Shed, Fyrish Gymnastics, Fox and Friends, Connecting Carers in Dingwall, and The Place Youth Café in Alness.
On November 22nd, we held our official anniversary party, celebrating with past and present staff, clients, and friends. We capped off the evening with a fun-filled murder mystery event for our team.
Welcoming New Staff
In July, we were delighted to welcome Karen MacGregor and her secretary Nicola to our team after the closure of Macmillan & Co Karen works remotely and uses our Alness office to meet clients as needed, while Nicola is based full-time in Alness. Both have seamlessly integrated into our team, and it has been lovely to see so many of the former Macmillan and Co clients continue to use Karen for their legal requirements.
Alness Office
We’ve invested in redesigning our Alness office to provide a modern and functional workspace for our team. Renovations will be completed in 2025, and we’re excited to welcome more clients to our revamped office in the New Year.
Supporting Charity
In May, we participated in ‘Make a Will Month’ in support of the Highland Hospice, raising an incredible £3,110. Thank you to everyone who supported us during ‘Make a Will Month’ we always get such a great response to our appeal.
This year also saw the launch of our ‘Volunteer a Day’ initiative, allowing staff to dedicate a day to volunteering with a local charity. Lisa volunteered at the Highland Hospice, sorting donations in their warehouse. We also had five of our team members support Mission Christmas by sorting and packing toys for this year’s appeal. We’re excited to continue this program into 2025, furthering our commitment to giving back to the community.
Digital Upgrades
Building on last year’s digital upgrades, we have introduced our online payment option to our website. This has proven to be a convenient and popular addition, allowing clients to manage payments on the go.
Staff Achievements
Many of our team members celebrated gaining qualifications this year. In November, Kris fully qualified as a solicitor, and is now one of our assistant solicitors. Madeleine, our legal secretary, completed her Conveyancing Paralegal course, and Lisa, our estate agent, earned her SPC Property Practice certification. We’re incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication.
Festive Giving
This Christmas, we embraced the spirit of giving with initiatives like our annual Christmas Jumper Day, raising £77 for Mikeysline.
Instead of our traditional Secret Santa, we decided that we would donate gifts to MFR Cash for Kids to help their 2024 Mission Christmas appeal.
